The main cast of “Adamas” includes Ji Sung, Seo JiHye, and Lee SooKyung. The series follows identical twin brothers, Song SooHyun and Ha WooShin (both played by Ji Sung) as they look to uncover the truth behind the death of their stepfather. Along the way they meet chaebol daughter-in-law of the Haesong Group, Eun HyeSoo (played by Seo JiHye) and passionate reporter, Kim SeoHee (played by Lee SooKyung). Both of these women aid the brothers while pursuing their own agendas. Only two episodes have released so far, but the drama is already proving to be a must watch! So if haven’t started “Adamas”, here are some reasons why you should!
1. Ji Sung’s Acting Versatility
It’s not everyday that an actor is casted into a dual role, especially as two main leads. But Ji Sung steps up to the challenge and showcases his exemplary acting skills in his portrayal of twins, Song SooHyun and Ha WooShin. This is not his first time in this type of role. In the MBC K-Drama “Kill Me, Heal Me” released in 2015, Ji Sung played a character with dissociative identity disorder, creating seven different personalities for the actor to portray. Despite this previous experience, Ji Sung shared in an interview that his approach to the twins in “Adamas” was totally different and that he emphasized acting out their subtle differences. Whether it’s experience or meticulous attention to detail, Ji Sung does not disappoint, already gaining praise from viewers for his amazing performance.
2. A Talented Supporting Cast
The cast of this drama is filled with familiar and well known faces who have constantly proven themselves to be outstanding actors and actresses. Many of them are veterans in the field and are no strangers to long time K-Drama fans. Aside from the main leads, there are notable names in the supporting cast like Choi DukMoon (“Doctor Lawyer”, “Vincenzo”, “Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung”), Heo SungTae (“Insider”, “Bloody Heart”, “Squid Game”), and Ko KyuPil (“From Now On, Showtime!”, “The King’s Affection”, “Lovers Of The Red Sky”). Despite not having the leading role, there is a reason why they are casted across multiple dramas, showcasing their talent time and time again. These actors know exactly how to put on a splendid performance and portray their characters to perfection.
3. A Treasure Trove of Secrets
At the end of the official trailer, Ji Sung’s character proclaims, “Look forward to it. I’ll expose whatever you’re hiding, one by one.” Through the trailer alone, there are various signs that point to many mysteries unfolding as the drama progresses. Then, once you start watching, you will be at the edge of your seat, anticipating what might happen next. Whether it’s the location of adamas, the bloodied diamond-tip arrow, the inner workings of Haesong mansion, or the characters themselves, there are secrets abound waiting for the main leads and viewers to discover together. There’s nothing more alluring than a secret waiting to be told — especially a K-Drama secret.
4. A Reunion Between Leads
This isn’t the first time that Ji Sung and Seo JiHye have acted together. They first met on the set of “Kim SooRo, The Iron King”, over 10 years ago in 2010. During an interview, both actors expressed their joy of reuniting on set and how comfortable it felt acting alongside each other once again. Ji Sung commented on how amazed he felt to see how JiHye’s reactions both evolved and remained the same. Although their two characters are serious and calculating on screen, they are able to show off their warm and long-lasting relationship through various interviews. Hopefully we’ll be able to see even more of their chemistry on screen and through future online content. Have you started watching “Adamas”? What do you like about the drama so far?
