The actor who has been cast in the titular leading role of Nurse Jung SheeNa (or Jung DaEun in the drama) is Park BoYoung, much to the excitement of fans worldwide. In addition, Lee JungEun, Jang DongYoon and Yeon WooJin will also be playing main roles in the drama. With this project, Park BoYoung and Lee JungEun will be reuniting on screen for the first time since “Oh My Ghost”. Similarly, Jang DongYoon and Yeon WooJin are also reuniting after appearing together in “Search”. The drama will be helmed by famed Director Lee JaeGyoo (“All Of Us Are Dead”) and will be available for streaming worldwide on Netflix. The unique charm of the webtoon, originally by author Lee RaHa, is that all the characters in the narrative, except for SheeNa, are transformed into anthropomorphic animals. This allows for us to have an objective view of the characters and refrain from judging them as fellow humans while also understanding their pains. While it is unclear whether this technique will also be incorporated in the drama adaptation, it is definitely something we can look forward to. SheeNa (DaEun in the drama) is a young woman in the early days of her career and is rather timid when it comes to standing up for herself. She is not assertive but rather, tries to please everyone, including her patients. This doesn’t always work out in her favour but she takes it in her stride to move forward. However, it quickly becomes clear to her that being a pushover is not conducive to her own mental health. The story then charts her personal growth as a person and as a nurse as she learns to read between the lines and navigate her own attachments and emotions regarding her patients and coworkers. The slice of life aspect of the webtoon is deeply touching and forms the backbone of the story. Similarly, the use of humour does not veil the seriousness of the situations portrayed in the story but rather amplifies the significance of the allegory. With Park BoYoung’s effortless elegance and innocence, the role of Jung SheeNa will fit her perfectly. We cannot wait for more details to be released about the drama.
