Slated to be adapted into an 8-episode mini-drama, “Is It A Coincidence?” will be helmed by director Song HyunWook, who is currently working on “The Golden Spoon”. The original webtoon, by author Nam JiEun, illustrated by artist Kim InHo, tells the story of first love, friendship, and fate. It is a webtoon that can be enjoyed and appreciated by readers of all ages. The art style is unique and endearing, which makes the visual experience rather memorable. You can expect the K-Drama adaptation to replicate this through stunning cinematography, which is a given in Director Song HyunWook’s works. The central protagonists of the story are Lee HongJoo and Kang HooYoung. Back in middle school, HongJu was HooYoung’s first love but she would pass on love notes to him from her friends with not the slightest clue about his feelings. 10 years later, they meet on a blind date where HongJu introduces herself, and HooYoung recognizes her at once. As it turns out, both HongJu and HooYoung had come for a blind date, but they had their respective partners mixed up. The two resume their separate dates, but the encounter leaves HooYoung wondering whether it was just a coincidence that he met HongJu after such a long time. HooYoung is thrilled to meet HongJu and cannot wait to see her again. So, when he gets invited to a reunion party by HongJu’s friend, HooYoung takes it upon himself to meet her there. HongJu on the other hand is skeptical when it comes to love after breaking up with her first love. She is outwardly unaffected by HooYoung’s eagerness about meeting her but was certainly taken aback when he remembered her. Will their unfulfilled love take flight this time around? Will coincidence lead to fate? You can find out by reading the webtoon in Korean here. At the time of writing, Kim SoHyun has not confirmed her appearance in “Is It A Coincidence?”. However, in light of reports that suggest that she has been cast in the leading role of HongJu, we picked 4 Korean actors who we think would be perfect as her male lead, HooYoung. HooYoung and HongJu have a considerable height difference, which is one of the most heart-fluttering elements of their romance. HooYoung is also well-built and incredibly handsome when it comes to appearance. We think Ahn HyoSeop, SF9’s RoWoon, 2PM’s Ok TaecYeon, Lee JunYoung and Ahn BoHyun would be perfect as Kang HooYoung. Vote for the actor you think fits this role the best in our poll below! Note: The aim of the vote is for Kpopmap readers to share their opinion about their preference for the cast. It is not affecting the cast of the production team.
