“Glitch” introduces JiHyo (Jeon YeoBeen), someone who can see the aliens but tries to avoid it and Na BoRa (After School’s NaNa) as a UFO enthusiast. The two meet again after years when JiHyo’s ex-boyfriend goes missing. JiHyo and BoRa made us believe that a soulmate comes in the shape of a friend. The two are completely opposite but perfectly right for each other. Their interaction is truly all you need to make your day and no, we are not exaggerating. To further prove our point, here are reasons why Jeon YeoBeen as JiHyo and After School’s NaNa as Na BoRa are the best duo of 2022.
1. Two Opposites But Perfect For Each Other
There are two types of people in the world: people like JiHyo or BoRa. Whilst JiHyo is quiet and reserved, BoRa is easy to interact with and has a carefree personality. Even their dressing style is completely opposite. Perhaps the time they went to see a real estate agent is the best way to describe their differences. They went to SiGuk’s (Lee DongHwi) apartment and pretended to be interested in buying it. Whilst BoRa acted all joyful and excited, JiHyo remained quiet and scanned the whole place. She even got straight to the point and began to ask questions. It was BoRa who cheerfully covered up for her. BoRa is bold, whilst JiHyo is often hesitant and is afraid to make a move. This is where the two meet each other. BoRa gives her confidence as she instantly acts upon her thoughts, hence JiHyo has no other choice but to follow her. Yet at the same time, JiHyo is there to stop her. Like the time when they broke into SiGuk’s old apartment, a mysterious group came in and began to chant prayers. At the time, JiHyo held BoRa back from going outside and filming them as that was dangerous.
2. Accepting Each Other When Others Did Not
JiHyo and BoRa were both outcasts. We don’t see them having any memory of other friends in middle school. JiHyo is a young UFO enthusiast whilst BoRa was a delinquent. BoRa, at a young age, would smoke and even drink whilst JiHyo would escape to the rooftop to listen to songs and fly up in the air. In the series, JiHyo’s father, too, called her, interested in aliens as a weird obsession. Yet, BoRa did not think the same way. She accepted and then believed the idea about aliens. In fact, she continued to believe so and would investigate such situations. When JiHyo applied on the forum to find her ex-boyfriend, BoRa was a part of that club and helped her.
3. Protecting Each Other At All Cost
JiHyo and BoRa were always there for each other. At a young age, JiHyo caught her father with another woman. Even though she did not say anything to him, it hurt her nonetheless. BoRa understood that and offered her a sip of alcohol. She even embraced her when she began to cry. Years later, when they start working on the mission to find SiGuk, they manage to sneak into New Hope Psychiatrist Hospital where the cult majorly operated. The two were caught and tried to escape but the gate was closed and there was no other escape. JiHyo sacrificed her safety by allowing BoRa to get out first whilst she distracted the volunteers. JiHyo is taken captive and BoRa is determined to find her. Even if she had to put her in trouble again. She partners up with ChanWoo (Ko ChangSeok) and the two help JiHyo escape. She finds JiHyo in the forest and takes her away. Later, when JiHyo asks her psychiatrist to hypnotize her so she can retrieve an important memory, BoRa was by her side. She was unable to unlock the memory and confessed she did not want to unlock it. But BoRa placed her hand on top of hers and assured her that she would watch. This gives JiHyo the courage and she opens the door of that memory. Jeon YeoBeen and NaNa brought us an ideal type of friendship of the year. The characters were flawed and had differences but their bond was strong enough to over come that. Have you watched “Glitch”? Share your thoughts about it.
